Not long now until the new season gets underway, any thoughts or predictions on what might happen?
From the test sessions its quite difficult to tell, however I suspect the Mercedes is still the best car / team / package but suspect that Ferrari's car will be very close and probably better at some circuits but can the team learn from the mistakes and missed opportunities of last year? Over one lap it seems there is relatively little between Ferrari, Mercedes and Red Bull and these no doubt will be the leading teams.
Aside from the racing, 2018 is an important year for the sports new owners Liberty Media, the "honeymoon" period is now over and people will be wanting to see how they manage the sport. There has been much talk of introducing new locations and extending the season, will they be able to achieve that? In the past Bernie Ecclestone had a knack of making such things happen, whether the new owners are able to remains to be seen. A good starting point for them might be to sort out a future British GP, If i'm honest Silverstone has never been a favourite of mine but to not have a "British GP" would be tragic both for the British supporters and the sport as a whole.
I can't help but think Liberty Media are saying things in the hope op keeping everyone happy and not rock the boat too much but that cant go on for much longer and people might start to get a bit tougher. So far it seems the only decision they have made, was the one to ban grid girls, which I don't believe was a good move and to be honest if anything showed a bit of a blinkered / dated view - does anyone really believe they affected the way women were perceived?
