Now in its 3rd year the event continues to support local charities (£23000 over the previous 2 years). In 2015 the event will be supporting: Brooklands Museum, GASP Motor Project, Cherry Trees Respite Home, Shere Infants School, Shere Village Nursery, West Clandon School and Wildlife Aid Foundation. The Hill Climb is an affordable day out, with a friendly and informal atmosphere and wide mix of cars.
"The event takes place up Staple Lane in the beautiful Surrey Hills near Guildford. The lane is a public road which, will be closed to all other traffic for the day. There are panoramic views across the Surrey countryside, on a clear day London and the Wembley Arch can be seen in the distance. The course runs from close to the junction of Staple Lane with the A246 to the summit of the hill with the paddock located at the base of the hill.
The road ascends by 300 feet over a distance of nearly a mile with a series of challenging corners along the route. Straw bale chicanes are added to the course at various points to increase the difficulty.
Entries will open on 1st March 2015. The entry form will be on the Entry Form page of this web site. Unsurprisingly, the hill climb is over-subscribed every year. The accepted entries will be announced on 1st May.
There will 135 cars running, representing an amazing cross section of motoring history from the early days of the car right up to a few modern exotics. Each car will complete three runs starting at 9.30am and finishing at around 5.00pm.
Spectators are welcome. Entry to the hill climb car park will only be from the A246 end of Staple Lane (GU4 7RL). There will be no access from the Shere end of Staple Lane."
