An obvious one and the first one to spring to mind, we did this in the 3200 which was a lot of fun.
Traveling west on the A5 (green) which is by far the biggest and busiest of the 3 roads that form the mythical triangle. Initially fairly straight with the odd house and farm building along its length it makes for a relaxing start, then approximately halfway along its (triangle) length it becomes a little more interesting with a few changes in direction to prepare you for the next section.
On reaching the A543 (orange) we turn right and suddenly the road feels tight with imposing stone walls and a tree canopy overhead. At first I thought that maybe I had taken the wrong turning but then as the road rises onto the open moorland I know this is the right road. The scenery is soon a blur and the fun proper has started numerous long cambered bends connected by quick straights. Visibility is great and you can see the route of the road ahead as it wiggles and dives and then rises up again and so should not throw out too many surprises. It has been described as a full size Scalextric track and that’s just how it feels. As the bends, swoops, climbs and straights keep coming it’s easy to lose yourself in driving pleasure and forget this is a public road. Watch out for the sheep though, they can be seen on both sides of the fences and sometimes on the road, not a problem just be aware of them.
Now another right onto the B4501 (yellow) for the last side of the “triangle” this road feels completely different again to the previous leg, greener with woodland and somehow the sweeping bends and undulating terrain seems bigger almost like an alpine road for some reason. Different and yet still as much fun and probably more suited to the way the 3200 performs. The extra space lets me stretch the car a bit more, carrying the speed from one sweeping bend to the next and on this trip at least the final leg was the most enjoyable. Then all to soon the finish and we are back to where we started.
Time for another go ..
